Dr. Quincy Johnson, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health, Sport, and Exercise Sciences and the Assistant Director of the Jayhawk Athletic Performance Laboratory, has been nominated for the National Strength and Conditioning Association’s 2025 Educator of the Year Award.

This award is given to an educator who has made significant contributions to the education and clinical application of strength training and conditioning.

Dr. Johnson says “It’s a great honor, I’m very passionate about mentoring students through research, especially in strength and conditioning and sports science, and I am humbled to be a nominee. My approach to strength and conditioning education is student-centered. This award is student-centered, it is based on making sure students have the tools and resources to succeed.”

Dr. Johnson is the instructor for both Methods of Strength and Conditioning and Advanced Methods of Strength and Conditioning courses. Additionally, he teaches Sports Science courses and serves as the Program Director for Jayhawk Performance, a long-term athletic development program designed for youth.

Each NSCA Educator of the Year nominee completes a criteria sheet detailing career accomplishments and contributions to the personal training industry.

The criteria sheet assigns points to a variety of professional achievements, letters of recommendation, volunteer involvement with the NSCA, and other activities related to the personal training industry.

The Award will be conferred at the National Conference Awards Banquet to be held July 16–19 in Kansas City.
